Job description

The Rakem Group are looking for an experienced sales professional to head up its construction division. The successful candidate will have experience in the sector and will have the drive and enthusiasm to increase Rakem’s penetration into the domestic construction market.

Main duties and responsibilities shall include but are not limited to:

  • Developing sales strategies in line with company sales goals, forecasts and budgets
  • Increasing current sales turnover and profitability whilst achieving allocated targets
  • Proactively seeking and identifying new business opportunities in the UK and Ireland whilst maintaining a strong rapport with current clients and associates
  • Providing a high level of customer service, support and liaison to maximise sales activity at all times
  • Playing a vital role in the groups marketing practises and developments
  • Attending technical training or sales conferences at principals (international and domestic)
  •  Attending trade shows and trade association meetings and functions related to application areas of responsibility
  • Liaising with internal departments throughout the group to ensure operational efficiency i.e. sales queries, customer service issues, accounts queries, stock availability and planning
  • Creating innovative business development techniques and strategies to present to the executive team
  • Working closely with the R&D department to acknowledge advancements in the field and opportunities to develop the groups portfolio
  • Demonstrates the ability to interact and cooperate with all company stakeholders
  • Providing accurate and timely market and product information to the sales team in relation to own application areas
  • Ensuring frequent contact is made with existing or new customers by site visit, trade shows, electronic communication and social networking.
  • Creating monthly summary reports demonstrating extensive market & competitor research
  • Receiving any customer complaints and delegates responsibility or action to ensure speedy resolution and customer satisfaction
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes to ensure a professional and consistent company image is upheld

Candidates will ideally have/be

  • Sound experience within a similar sales role
  • Have working knowledge of builder’s merchants, contractors and other aspects of the industry
  • Able to demonstrate a strong understanding of customer and market dynamics
  • Outstanding negotiation and communication skills – verbal and written
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office applications, Outlook and CRM
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a Business field would be an advantage
  • Targets and results driven
  • The ability to travel on company business
  • Self-motivated with fantastic organisational skills
  • Focused and competitive
